The Look” original lyrics by John Newton

VERSE1 I saw one hanging on a tree
In agony and blood
Who fixed His loving eyes on me
As near His cross I stood
And never till my dying breath
Will I forget that look
It seemed to charge me with His death
Though not a word He spoke

VERSE 2 My conscience felt and owned the guilt
And plunged me in despair
I saw my sins His blood had spilt
And helped to nail Him there
But with a second look He said
“I freely all forgive
This blood is for your ransom paid
I died that you might live”

CHORUS
Forever etched upon my mind
Is the look of Him who died
The Lamb I crucified
And now my life will sing the praise
Of pure atoning grace
That looked on me and gladly took my place

VERSE 3 Thus while His death my sin displays
For all the world to view
Such is the mystery of grace
It seals my pardon too
With pleasing grief and mournful joy
My spirit now is filled
That I should such a life destroy
Yet live by Him I killed
CHORUS 2x

Re: Religion: Can we keep this one please ?

Howard County Sheriff Jerry Marr got a disturbing call one Saturday afternoon a few months ago. His 6-year-old grandson Mikey had been hit by a car while fishing in Greentown with his dad.

The father and son were near a bridge by the Kokomo Reservoir when a woman lost control of her car, slid off the bridge, and hit Mikey at a rate of about 50 mph.

Sheriff Marr had seen the results of accidents like this and feared the worst. When he got to Saint Joseph Hospital, he rushed through the emergency room to find Mikey conscious and in fairly good spirits.

"Mikey, what happened?" Sheriff Marr asked.
Mikey replied, "Well, Papaw, I was fishin' with Dad, and some lady runned me over. I flew into a mud puddle and broke my fishin' pole, and I didn't get to catch no fish!."

As it turned out, the impact propelled Mikey about 500 feet, over a few trees and an embankment, and into the middle of a mud puddle. His only injuries were to his right femur leg bone, which had broken in two places. Mikey had surgery to place pins in his leg. Otherwise the boy is fine. Since all the boy could talk about was that his fishing pole was broken, the Sheriff went out to Wal-Mart and bought him a new one while he was in surgery, so he could have it when he came out.

The next day the Sheriff sat with Mikey to keep him company in the hospital. Mikey was enjoying his new fishing pole and talked about when he could go fishing again as he cast into the trash can.

When they were alone, Mikey, just as matter-of-factly, said, "Papaw, did you know Jesus is real?"

"Well," the Sheriff replied, a little startled. 'Yes, Jesus is real to all who believe in him and love him in their hearts."

"No," said Mikey. "I mean Jesus is REALLY real."

"What do you mean?" asked the Sheriff.

"I know he's real, 'cause I saw him," said Mikey, still casting into the trash can.

"You did?' said the Sheriff.

"Yep," said Mikey. "When that lady runned me over and broke my fishing pole, Jesus caught me in his arms and laid me down in the mud puddle."

I wasn't trying to start any debates on evolution, I was simply stating my views... I too believe in evolution to a point. but even Darwin, the father of evolution said "there Had to be a creator" because if everything was just random, as with the chaos theory, then surely life would be a mixed up mess.

as for the issue of church, I DO believe that you can be saved and not go to church, however the church is not a building, it's the people inside. "we are the church, the chosen bride of Christ" as one song writer stated.
Hebrews 10:25 says "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." (KJV) or "not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." (ESV)

the people not only meet to glorify God, but to build one another up and encourage them in their daily walk with God.

Sorry to hear that you lost someone close to you Lyssa.

I know religon really helps me with dealing with hard time. I pray every night before bed. Recently a dear friend of mine died and understanding that he was now in heaven and that he was in abetter place really helped me. I have been crying today.

Well they say that atoms have always been around like matter, for matter can not be created or destroyed its just their. Like with physics when you push on a wall is it that your not pushing that wall with all your strenght so it will move or is the wall pushing back with the exact same force as you pushing on it.

After church one Easter, a young man talked to the Pastor as follows:

"Pastor, I am the most miserable young man you have ever seen. I have got more money than I can ever spend. I have thousands of fans out there, and I have a lot of people who call themselves my friends, but I am miserable. I am not doing a lot of things that you taught me, and I am doing some things that you taught me not to do. I never expected to be anybody important. Maybe I'm not now, but whatever I am, whatever I will become will be what God has chosen for me. Some people I know can't figure out how [ I ] happened. I don't blame them for wondering that. Sometimes I wonder myself... But no matter what I do, I don't forget about God. I feel he's watching every move I make. And in a way it's good for me. I'll never feel comfortable taking a stong drink, and I'll never feel easy smoking a cigarette. I just don't think those things are right for me... I just want to let a few people know that the way I live is by doing what I think God wants me to. I want someone to understand."

Dude nothing personal but I believe in evolution. I do believe that Jesus was God's son and that he was sent to us to for give our sins. I believe that God did this when he felt that we were worthy of this and that he felt we were ready to evolve and learn his teachings. I believe that we are just one of many of his creations and that there are more like us through out space and beyond. Just a little about me. My family does not attend church on a regular basis. I pray to God, Jesus, and Mary every day and give my thanks for all they have blessed our family with. I believe that a person's relationship with God does not have to be a public affair and that a private one on one session is all right. I pray in the Morning's and at Night. When I get the quiet moment to myself is when I talk to him. I'm not a religious battler so lets not turn this into a debate. This is just me and only me.

I have a much different view of this. evolution is all around us, we can see it in everyday life. but I see it as Gods hand controlling every adaptation. man did NOT evolve from apes. that is a lie and a twist of evidences that most people blindly believe, and no true scientist has ever stated. what science does show is a common ancestor. meaning that there was some other living that humans, and gorillas, and apes all came from. man could not have evolved from the earth because God made the earth, and all things in the earth. or if you want to argue evolution you could say that atoms came together and started the "big bang". well then, what made those atoms in the first place? it all goes back to God. the time-line of the bible leaves no room for the dinosaurs. yet we have the fossil record of them. IF God did make the earth only 6-7 thousand years ago then by leaving a fossil record such as we have would make God a liar. and I believe that God cannot lie. to God time has no meaning. the simple fact is that God is. we are His workmanship, His prime creation. yet we change and grow every day. you are not the same as your parents. you have different DNA and different traits because of the genetic mix of your parents. guess what? that means that you are the evolved form of your parents! after many many years of this there will be a lot more noticeable changes even in the genetic structure. yet that does not change God's message to us that He loved us enough to give His son as a sacrifice for our sin once for all. the focal point of the Bible is not a history book to tell us how we got here, the focal point is that we are sinners that cannot save ourselves and that we have a God that loves us. and the other main focus of the Bible is to tell us how to live in a way that others can see a difference and want to also be more like Christ.

I'm a Catholic, I believe in evolution and that man evolved from the earth. I do believe in God - of course I just believe that we were introduced to his teachings as we became more complex than just dumb apes. I believe this because explain the dinosaurs and prehistoric man. I'm not trying to start a religion battle. I just want to know if others think like I do.

Welcome back Breadboy, I wasn't the most religous guy before I was enveloped by depression. During the bad times I just prayed and prayed that I would make it to another day. Now that I'm better I myself have become a believer in God and now know that he helps people who are in dire need.
